Students should be able to:

identify and describe the relative size of acute and obtuse angles with respect to right angles.



 

 

Introduction to Obtuse Angles: The Letter K

Look closely at the angles in the letter K- can you identify each of them (there are three)?
One of the angles opens wider than the other two. Can you identify it? Push the button to reveal it.

 


What can you learn by looking at the letter K?

 

Let's start with reviewing three kinds of angles:

 

1 - acute angle; 2 - right angle; 3 - obtuse angle

 

When the letter K is turned on its side, we see an angle >90º (greater than 90º).

Therefore, when we look at the letter K we see an OBTUSE ANGLE.
