Students should be able to:

identify and describe the relative size of acute and obtuse angles with respect to right angles.

 

 

 

Introduction to Right Angles: The Letter L

Let's review three types of angles. Check them out below:

1 - acute angle; 2 - right angle; 3 - obtuse angle

 

Which angle looks like the letter L?

You've got it...the right angle looks like the letter L.


 

What can you learn by looking at the letter L?

When you look at the letter L, you see a RIGHT ANGLE, or an angle with a measure of 90º.

 

A right angle is larger than an acute angle...

 

 

...but smaller than an obtuse angle.
